Free Barista & Mocktail Skills Training 2026

Event Overview

Ready to build your skills and confidence to apply for hospitality jobs? Join the Student Careers & Employability Team and the Tasmanian Hospitality Association for a free, hands-on training session. You'll use a real commercial espresso machine, learn from professional instructors, and make drinks you can enjoy on the spot. No experience needed.

What You'll Learn

Two 2-hour, hands-on workshops, plus a session with the Careers Team:

  • Barista Essentials (2 hours): Learn how coffee is made, from extraction to milk texturing, and how to use a commercial espresso machine.
  • Mocktail Mixology (2 hours): Learn to balance flavours, pour drinks like a professional and create your own premium mocktails (non-alcoholic drinks).
  • Careers Session (1 hour): Get practical tips from the Student Careers & Employability Team on showing your new skills on your resume and feeling confident applying for hospitality roles.

  • Time: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM (please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in)

  • Places are capped at 30 to make sure everyone gets personalised instruction.
  • Register as soon as possible to secure your spot.
  • Registrations close on 26 October at 5:00 PM.
